Wet strength resins are genarally used in paper towels

Applications for wet-strength resins include paper towels, weather resistant packaging, milk cartons, frozen food packages and vegetable boxes. Products requiring immersion in water such as photographic paper, filter paper and certain textiles in hospital bed sheets and gowns are areas where wet strength is important.
  • Tissue and towel.
  • Publication papers.
Melamine-Formaldehyde (MF) resins: MF resins are aqueous solutions of rather low molecul09ar condensation products of formaldehyde and melamine, in many cases modified with certain additives.

These resins are characterised by 55-60% solid content, a low viscosity (15-27 DIN 4 sec.) and a colourless and clear appearance.

MF resins are applied for paper impregnation; thereby resin penetrates into the paper and through a combined thermal pressing and curing process a composite of paper and polymer with excellent surface properties can be produced.

Decorative and overlay papers (also fortified), filled with melamine resin, are used for the lamination on particle boards or similar for the furniture and flooring market as well for decorative laminated boards, used in applications with heavy demands on chemical and mechanical resistance and hygienic properties of surfaces, e.g.: kitchen, lab, hospitals, etc..

For high abrasion resistant surfaces Anmol polymers offers a special low viscosity MF resin which can be used without any flocculation aid such as cellulose or polymer additives.

To improve the large number of surface properties (flexibility, transparency,..) and to improve the impregnation and the lamination process, modifications of the melamine resins with different types of additives is very important.
